Clarify the Problem

“If I were given one hour to save the planet, I would spend 59 minutes defining the problem and one minute resolving it.” - Albert Einstein

Most people have heard this quote, but how many people live by it? It’s tough to live by these words. In a society that’s all about action and doing, it’s hard to just stop and think. It’s tough to sit in the initial confusion before you sort it all through. At work, you may feel like you’re not delivering, or that the answer is obvious and you should already know exactly what’s going on and what to do.

Getting clarity on a problem or situation is something I have to constantly remind myself to do and I know I’m not at full clarity until the solution is pretty clear, obvious even.

Knowing this, I find myself wondering, if everyone slowed down long enough to find deep understanding of a situation, how much more efficient and intentional would we be with our actions?
